Biography

Dr. Gangapatnam Subramanyam MD DM medical director of Narayana Medical Institutions which has state of the art infrastructure and most advance research facilities. He is very much involved in stem cell research and in scaffolds.  He completed his MD in medicine and DM cardiology at university of Delhi with additional training in the electro physiology and echo cardiography.  He had more than 130 publications which include 40 research papers on micro nutrients and 20 on stem cells and scaffolds.  He is recognized nationally as an expert in the micro nutrients and various systemic disorders.  He has given lectures in the various part of the world like Canada, Sweden, Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Germany, Singapore and china.  He has published 6 text books and two of which are on micronutrients and one on stem cells.  He has received Ronald Ross research award 2017 in tissue engineering and fellow of directorate of tissue engineering of IASR for outstanding scientific contribution. He is the chairman Kathmandu university , super specialty courses – 2010-2013, Director / vice chancellor ,SVIMS university, Tirupati – 1999-2009 ,present director of Narayana medical college (2010-2018).  Executive member of all India university vice chancellor association 2004-2007 , selection member for international students  grants UGC 2003 , president of Indian society for atherosclerosis research – (1997 – 1999) , first secretary of  cardio logical society combined  A.P. State – (1996 – 1998) , executive member of atherosclerotic Asian pacific society , editorial board of member, experimental cardiology, Indian heart journal, first president of Andhra Pradesh government doctors association , best teacher award by IMA - 2017 , chairman PHD programme NTR university of health sciences 2018, Best teacher award government of AP 1998, best cardiologist, best researcher award by government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1992 and 1995 , “life time achievement award” jointly presented by Indian medical association, CMC, Vellore branch, Vellore & Canada Andhra Pradesh foundation on 30.04.2006 ,   AP cardiological society of India 2016 award for academic, administration and research work, 3 special awards 67th annual conference of cardiological society of India 2016, chief minister certificate of appreciation “administrator of par excellence” in the year 1998, gold medal in surgery in M.B.B.S. In the year 1964 , best cardiology services certified by the government of Andhra Pradesh 1994 , gold medal for the best paper presentation in the year 2000 in Andhra Pradesh cardiological association, Rajahmundry, first to show at the national level by experimental work that atherosclerosis (heart attack cause) can be reversed by trace elements and received DR.AMALANDA das memorial gold medal award by cardiological (CSI) for basic research work at science city, Kolkata, , presented gold medal during the association of physicians of India conference, AP chapter 2008, Dr. Amalanda das memorial gold medal award by  cardiological society (CSI)  for basic research work at science city, Kolkata and Supervised the work on adult haemopoietic stem cells to develop to cardiomyocyte first time in the country.  He was the task force member of stem cell research D.B.T government of India 2003-2006
