Sherry Arvidson

Title: Indigenous student success: The need for cultural understanding

Biography

Dr. Sherry Arvidson is currently employed with the Faculty of Nursing at University of Regina. She completed a Doctor of Education program specializing in curriculum and instruction through the University of Phoenix in 2015. Her research area includes: vulnerable populations in community--?based and clinical settings. Research studies include: Indigenous peoples, students, homeless populations and clinical conditions specific to the focus of the study.

Collaboration and networking on projects is seen as an opportunity to gain knowledge and skill in refining research techniques. Her scholarship activities include: chapter book contributions, presentations at National and International conferences, peer reviewer for journals and textbooks, publications and editorial board member for peer reviewed journals. She also served as an organizing committee member for the Nursing 2018 Leadership conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the Winter 2016, Dr. Arvidson was the recipient of the President’s teaching award of recognition with the Centre for Teaching and Learning at University of Regina.
