Richard Wennberg is Emeritus Professor, Neonatology,
University of California, Davis and founder of Bilimetrix-USA LLC, a company dedicated
to providing low cost solutions for jaundice management in low-middle income
countries. He has over 80 publications focusing on bilirubin/albumin binding,
bilirubin toxicity, and neonatal jaundice. He co-created the peroxidase method
to measure unbound (free) bilirubin, the “Bilistick” point of care plasma
bilirubin assay, and the “BiliPic” smartphone assay. He is a consultant to the
“Stop Kernicterus in Nigeria” consortium and primary author of a study
demonstrating the importance of maternal instruction in preventing kernicterus (Journal
of Pediatrics, In Press).
