Luke Ottewell is currently a 4th year medical
student at the University of Bristol. His interest in neurosurgery sparked when
he was 17, when he obtained a scholarship to conduct research at the renowned
Barcelona Centre for Regenerative Medicine, where he worked with Induced
Pluripotent Stem Cells. It wasn’t until late 2nd year of medical
school, however, that he realised that he wanted to pursue a career in
neurosurgery after falling in love with neuroanatomy. He has set up multiple
teaching sessions for fellow students as well as representing the southwest in
national neurosurgery interest groups. He had undergone projects in traumatic
brain injury and pituitary surgery so far and hopes to widen his experience
further before the end of medical school.
