During my PhD (University of Bristol, UK) I developed research towards the engineering of novel protocellular mesomaterials in the group of Prof. Stephen Mann FRS and was awarded a Faculty of Science Doctoral Commendation in 2012. After a short postdoc in Bristol, in 2014 I moved to The Netherlands to pursue research at the interface between materials science and biomedical research. Working in the group of Prof. Jan van Hest, first at Radboud University (Nijmegen) and then at the Eindhoven University of Technology, I innovated new platform technologies and directed research in nanomedicine. In 2017 I was awarded a Ser Cymru II fellowship to pursue my research interests in the Department of Chemistry at Swansea University. With a recent patent filed regarding biodegradable nanovectors for drug delivery, I am keen to see my research break out of the chemistry lab and into the real-world of healthcare technologies.
