Spectroscopy is the analysis of the interaction between matter and any portion of the spectrum. Historically, spectrum analysis concerned the spectrum of sunshine, but x-ray, gamma, and actinic ray spectrum analysis are valuable analytical techniques. Spectroscopy analysis might involve any interaction between lightweight and matter, as well as absorption, emission, scattering, etc.
