Biography

Dr. Jyotsna Agarwal is working in the area of patient care and diagnostics since last 23 years. She is a well-known Medical Microbiologist of North India, currently working as Professor  & Head of the department of Microbiology at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. She is primarily responsible for establishing a modern advanced diagnostic laboratory for COVID-19 disease in the department of virology and currently working as Chairperson Corona virus outbreak preparedness committee, at Dr. RMLIMS. She was awarded as first runner up in 3rd FLO Women Awards of Uttar Pradesh 2017-2018 in the category of outstanding woman in medical and health care. Her thrust areas of interest are sexually transmitted/ reproductive tract/urinary tract infections in women. Her other research interests are antimicrobial resistance in microbes, molecular diagnostics and focus areas have been infections of children like pneumonia, septicaemia & meningitis. She works as member of Scientific Expert Committee for technical evaluation of R&D project in various government agencies like DBT & DST. She has nearly 75 publications in indexed national and international journals and also worked as Editor and Reviewer for several reputed National and International journals. She took keen interest in “Hospital Infection Prevention, Control Practices and Antimicrobial stewardship Program” and provides advice on prevention of misuse of antimicrobials in hospital settings. An Annual newsletter from the Department of Microbiology, Dr. RMLIMS is published in her guidance, which contains antibiograms and other relevant information pertaining to infection control etc
