Biography

Tom van der Voorn is a Ph.D. Candidate in Environmental Science from the Institute of Environmental Systems Research, University of Osnabrück, Germany. 

He acted as Work Package leader of the ClimateWater project on bridging the gap between adaptation strategies and EU water policies funded by the EU 7th Framework Programme. He published on the applicability of participatory backcasting for adaptive water management as well as on participatory approaches for community-based drinking water supply in developing countries.

Research Interest

His expertise and major interest lie in: - The development & application of participatory backcasting approaches for adaptive water management. Carlsson et al (2013) & Faldi et al (2014) claim that Van der Voorn et al (2012) are the first authors who proposed a methodology for how backcasting in combination with Adaptive Management could be used for implementing adaptation strategies and policies, - Envisioning climate robust futures and - Global food, water & energy nexus.
