Drug design, also acknowledged as rational drug design, is the inventive process of finding new medicines based on the information of a biological target. Drug development is the process of bringing a new pharmaceutical drug or the medicine to the market which is identified through the process of drug discovery. Structure-based drug design is the design and optimization of a chemical structure with the aim of identifying a compound suitable for clinical testing on a drug candidate. It is based on information of the drug’s three-dimensional structure, shape and charge cause it to interact with its biological target, ultimately producing a medical effect.
