Luiz Pereira Ramos has completed
his MSc in 1988 at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil, and his PhD
in 1992 at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He worked as Full Professor at the
Department of Chemistry of UFPR until October 2019, and now is working as a Senior
Professor at the Graduate Programs in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the
same institution. He has published more than 160 papers in reputed journals (H-factor
of 40) and has been serving as an Associated Editor of ACS Energy & Fuels since
2012, as well as an editorial board member of BioResources (Raleigh) and Frontiers
in Bioengineering and Biotechnology. He leads many research activities in areas
of wood and carbohydrate chemistry, biomass conversion processes, advanced
biofuels, and other topics related to sustainable biorefineries. Also, he is member
of the Board of Directors of Earth Renewable Technologies Inc., and acted as ad-hoc
consultant for several companies, leading international science journals and
both national and international funding agencies
